About

Lupita Guadalupe Guerrero (b. 1999) is a multidisciplinary Canadian artist based in Kitchener, Ontario. She graduated from the University of Waterloo, majoring in Fine Arts with a minor in Sociology in 2021. Her work primarily consists of the handmade, such as traditional painting, drawing, and textiles, though she also practices photography and video. She navigates themes surrounding migration and generational diaspora through her own lived experiences, as well as those within her Nicaraguan family. Lupita won a painting award from the Fine Arts Department in 2019 and was the recipient for the 2021 Curator's Choice Award. In recent years, she has showcased her work at Hamilton Artists Inc.'s exhibition Ignition9 and Cambridge Art Galleries' SHOW.21 alongside other artists.
